mr. Monique J.E. Spee, attorney-at-law and mediator
Monique Spee graduated from Maastricht University in 1997 with a degree in civil law, and was sworn in as a practising lawyer in 1998. She founded SPEE advocaten on 1 May 2005 after several years working for a number of leading law firms.
Within the firm, she provides advice and, where necessary, litigates on issues in employment law such as individual and group redundancies, executive position, reorganizations and takeovers, incapacity for work, labour disputes, redundancy, employment conditions, working conditions, occupational accidents, and collective labour agreement law. Monique is a member of VAAN (the Dutch Employment Lawyers Association) in the Limburg legal district.
Monique is also particularly active in law of persons and family law and in issues regarding divorces and maintenance payments and the general law of obligations, with a particular focus on equine law. She also offers advice and support to entrepreneurs in civil matters in the broadest sense of the word.
Monique is also an officially registered conflict mediator at the Dutch mediation federation (MfN), and as such is affiliated with the MfN She can be called in as a mediator in all aforementioned legal areas as well as legal areas which have not been listed. mr. Martine E.V. Boersma, LL.M, PhD, attorney-at-law
Martine Boersma was sworn in as a practising lawyer in October 2011 in Maastricht, and has been with SPEE advocaten since the beginning of March 2013. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Dutch Law at Maastricht University in 2005 (with distinction), followed by a Master’s degree in Company and Commercial Law in 2006 (with distinction), as well as a Master’s degree in Law, Labour, and Health in 2007 (with distinction). During her studies, Martine gained practical experience by working at a legal advice centre and by doing an internship with a large law firm.
After finishing law school, Martine started a four year PhD project at Maastricht University on the subject of the human rights and international criminal law dimension of corruption in the public sector. Martine obtained her doctorate degree on 27 September 2012. In December 2013, her PhD thesis won the Max van der Stoel Human Rights Award from Tilburg University. Alongside research, Martine taught various courses to law students and held a number of board positions in academia. In 2008, she participated in the Summer Course of the Hague Academy of International Law. She also passed the Cambridge Proficiency Exam in 2009, enabling her to optimally serve the interests of clients in English as well.
Martine completed the post-academic specialist course in Corporate Law at the Grotius Academy in June 2015, passing with distinction.
With SPEE advocaten, Martine works in the general civil law practice, with special attention for corporate law, the law of obligations, contract law, trade law, property law, labour law, liability law, and general and civil construction law.

mr. Manon J.J. Pieters, attorney-at-law
Manon Pieters studied law at Radboud University in Nijmegen, graduating in 2008. Her undergraduate dissertation on labour law, one of her favourite legal areas, was awarded a very good mark by Professor Asscher-Vonk. As part of her studies, Manon completed a work placement at a well-established law firm. Upon completion of her studies, she began to work at another law firm in Heerlen, where she was active in general civil practice and specialized in labour law. As part of this position, Manon Pieters handled many transnational labour law cases as an employment lawyer. In 2012, Manon successfully completed her post-graduate specialist training in Employment Law at Grotius Acadamie. She has been working at SPEE Advocaten since November 2015.
Manon represents the interests of both employees and employers. She provides them with expert advice and, if required, ligates on all common disputes, including drawing up employment contracts and employee handbooks, trial period clauses, noncompetition clauses and nonsolicitation clauses, wages in arrears and other wage claims, illness and incapacity to work, redundancy and severance pay, termination agreements and settlement agreements, collective redundancy, reorganization, mergers and takeovers, redundancy packages, occupational accidents and employer’s liability, holidays and leave, labour disputes, workers’ participation, and Works Council issues.
Alongside labour law, Manon also has a wealth of knowledge on public service law, law of obligations, contract law, consumer law, trade law, patrimonial law, liability law, equine law, property law, tenancy law, administrative law, and she also deals with collection proceedings.
Manon effectively combines her poised and analytical working method with a good eye for the human aspect of each conflict.

mr. Wil J. Dols, legal advisor
Born in 1949, Wil Dols completed his grammar school education at the former St. Michiel lyceum in Geleen, now Graaf Huyn College, and went on to study law at Utrecht University.
He went on to work as an executive secretary for fifteen years and then deputy director at a medium-sized national construction firm, with primary responsibility for the company's legal affairs in both positions.
He then spent nearly twenty years in the practice of law, specializing in civil real estate law, with a principal focus on civil construction law.
Wil Dols left the practice of law in 2007, and is now an 'emeritus lawyer’. He continues to perform consulting work, particularly in property and civil construction law. This is the capacity in which he is affiliated with our firm.
In addition to his law practice, Wil has held a number of ancillary positions, including the positions of board member of ‘Progressbouw’ (a legal predecessor of BouwNed, the association of Dutch building and infrastructure companies), board member of the Stichting Waarborgfonds Koopwoningen (Homeowner Guarantee Fund Foundation), the underwriting institution for larger construction companies and project developers in the Netherlands, and chairman of the Supervisory Board of housing cooperative Zo Wonen and its legal predecessors, as well as chairman of the school board for Special Education for Geleen and environs. He is currently chairman of the complaints committee for the Weller Housing Cooperative in Heerlen.
